The HighScope curriculum is a student-centred pedagogical approach that promotes active and participatory learning. This model is distinguished by its emphasis on children taking an active role in their education, making decisions, setting goals and reflecting on their learning process.
It also values the constant involvement of families and the environment as key elements that enrich children’s development.
The teacher, as facilitator, guides the student in an environment that fosters autonomy and critical thinking, preparing children to face future challenges with confidence and life skills.
It encourages active and participatory, student-centred learning.
Promotes autonomy, allowing children to lead their own educational process.
Involve families as the first teachers, strengthening learning.
Creates a safe and motivating environment for the development of skills and identity.
Our approach to activity planning is centred on the Plan – Do – Review method, which allows our students to take control of their own learning. By planning and executing activities based on their interests and goals, our students develop valuable lifelong skills.
With planning in place, our students take action and carry out their activities. This process awakens their curiosity and provides them with opportunities to explore, experiment and learn in practical and meaningful ways.
At the end of the activities, our students reflect on their experience, analysing what worked well and what they could improve. This process of reflection fosters autonomy, critical thinking and self-regulation, key skills for their personal growth and future success.
In our preschool, we implement the HIGHSCOPE approach through active learning experiences, where both students and teachers construct knowledge together. This approach allows them to explore and find answers to their questions, which helps them understand how the world around them works. Every day is a new opportunity to live a learning adventure, developing the skills necessary to achieve success in their life project.
